New Frontiers
During the last ten years, flight simulation has benefitted from major advances in computing, image generation and electrical actuation. During this time, simulation has also advanced in other sectors, including engineering design, medicine, business and gaming. The aim of this conference is to bring together developers, researchers, academics and users of simulation technology to share understanding and to appreciate the potential benefits these new technologies can bring across the broad spectrum of simulation. This conference will enable pilots, manufacturers, operators, regulators and engineers to understand the potential advances offered by other industries and disciplines and equally for specialists in other sectors to appreciate the capabilities of modern flight simulation and the potential for improvement.
This two-day conference will focus on flight simulation technologies on the first day and will cover the more general aspects of simulation on day two. Papers are therefore sought from both specialists in flight simulation, but also from developers in other industries and sectors of engineering. The Royal Aeronautical Society Flight Simulation Group leads many international initiatives and, with new developments in aerospace in air traffic management, synthetic environments, sensor technologies and accident prevention, this conference is timely, providing a forum for flight simulation experts to learn of developments in other areas. The conference will provide an opportunity for experts in sectors outside flight simulation to contribute new papers on simulation and to learn about current technologies in addition to problems in flight simulation requiring novel solutions.
The Conference will comprise four sessions
• Advances in modelling
• New technologies
• Training effectiveness
• Advances in simulation in other market sectors
