Impact and Damage Tolerance in Composite Materials
A confident ability to analyse composite impact and damage tolerance is essential if the full benefits of composite construction are to be obtained in airframe structures. These topics are critical to achieving low weight and low operating costs. This 2012 one day Conference is brought to you by the RAeS Structures and Materials Specialist Group (in collaboration with the Imperial College Green Forum) and will examine the latest research and best practice on impact and damage tolerance of composite structures with presentations from industry, academia and software suppliers. The conference will address the following topics-
- The latest developments relating to impact and damage tolerance modeling, such as meshless methods and enrichment methods
- The design of composite structures to withstand various different types of impact: foreign object impact (FOI), bird strike, crash and blast loading.
- Design techniques based on the multi-scale modeling
- The use of new materials to improve impact and damage tolerance
- The application of new composite material models to impact and damage tolerance simulations.
