There is a place in membership for anyone in, or interested in the aeronautical or aerospace sector. There are grades of membership with different educational and work experience requirements. See the diagram below and click on one of the tabs on the left to determine which one is right for you.

If you live in Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan or South Africa you may also apply via your local Division.
Applying for Membership
Applications are considered by Committee every two months and the closing dates for 2014 for applications to be received at RAeS are:
- Tuesday, 21 January 2014 (Membership Committee meets on 18 February 2014)
- Tuesday, 18 March 2014 (Membership Committee meets on 28 April 2014)
- Tuesday, 27 May 2014 (Membership Committee meets on 24 June 2014)
- Tuesday, 5 August 2014 (Membership Committee meets on 2 September 2014)
- Tuesday, 7 October 2014 (Membership Committee meets on 4 November 2014)
A non-refundable application or upgrade fee* is collected upon receipt of your application. See Fees page for details. You will be notified as soon as possible after the Membership Grading Committee meeting of the outcome of your application, normally within 2 weeks. Successful candidates will be emailed with advice about the subscription fee to be debited from the credit/debit card given with the application. A Diploma confirming your election is sent once payment has been collected.
Unsuccessful candidates will receive feedback and encouragement to re-apply where appropriate. Candidates who are dissatisfied with the decision are entitled to appeal.
*This fee is waived if you are employed by a company which is a member of our Corporate Partner Scheme.
