Leave a Legacy
Remembering the Royal Aeronautical Society in your Will is one of the most important ways of making a gift to the Society. It allows us to plan for the future and invest in projects that will make major contribution to Society's activities in years to come.
A legacy through the Royal Aeronautical Society Foundation, which supports the Society's general and charitable activities, is the most significant way in which you could help to further the Society's aims. It would allow the Society to choose the most effective and beneficial way, at any time in the future, to make use of your gift. However, a Will is an incredibly personal document and we are aware that some Members have very specific ideas of what they would like their bequests to support, which the Society is very happy to discuss in confidence. The Society advises anyone wishing to make a will, or amending an existing one, to see a solicitor.
If you have already made a Will but have decided to leave a bequest to the Foundation you can do so by means of a codicil. Download a copy of the codicil form.
Leaving a bequest to the Foundation facilitates our STEM outreach programme to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals
Members could opt for a living legacy whereby they agree to bequeath a certain amount to the Royal Aeronautical Society Foundation but make an annual contribution with the proviso that the residual amount will be due from their estate on death less any donations already made. For example, you might decide to make an annual contribution of £1,000 to the Foundation over a period of ten years. You would then make provision in your Will to bequeath £10,000 to the Foundation, less the sum of the annual payments.
As a charity, bequests to the Society are exempt from Inheritance tax, thus offsetting the burden on the rest of your estate.
If you have remembered the Society in your Will you can complete and return this form so we can acknowledge your kind support and gift. If you would like further information on legacies, please contact the Finance department at the Society.
