Training Devices Workstream
The Training Devices Workstream’s principal focus remains in working with EASA and the USA FAA on the adoption of ICAO Doc 9625 ‘The Manual of Criteria for the Qualification of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs)’ Edition 4.

The Chairman is Itash Samani, Global Head of FSTD & FCL/ATO Regulatory Affairs, CAE. Itash Samani has had a very distinguished career in the flight simulation and flight crew training industry, with over 30 years experience in FSTD development, flight crew licensing and ATO regulations and rulemaking. His early career began in aerodynamics simulation and he subsequently gained considerable experience in avionics and automatic flight systems simulation. More recently, he specialised in simulator motion cueing. Over the years, Itash Samani has developed flight simulation models for a broad range of transport and business aviation aircraft and has worked with a large number of the major carriers in the industry. He has also provided FSTD evaluation training to various state regulatory inspectors and has chaired a number of high profile committees. Itash Samani has also been an influential member of the RAeS International Working Group on ICAO Doc 9625, the FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee for Part-60, and the ICAO working group for the approval of ATOs.
Itash Samani is a trained pilot on both gliders and powered aircraft. He is also a Chartered Engineer, licensed by the Engineering Council of the UK, and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
