Upset Prevention & Recovery Training Workstream
The Upset Prevention & Recovery Training Workstream continues to undertake a coordinated and coherent overview of the known subject matter material on loss of control in flight (LOC-I) and upset prevention & recovery training (UPRT) for the benefit of operators, training organisations and pilots in the commercial air transport sector.
The Chairman is Dr Wayne Martin PhD FRAeS of Virgin Australia.
Wayne Martin is currently a line B777 pilot with Virgin Australia and a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Southern Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He has held a number of check & training positions throughout his 36 year career and has also held various fleet and training management positions.
Dr Martin's research area is predominantly in human factors and cognitive psychology. His doctoral thesis examined the effects of startle and acute stress on pilots and he continues to research in this area. Other current areas of research focus include pilot monitoring and complexity issues in aviation. Wayne also runs the PACDEFF Aviation Human Factors Conference which is the largest of its type in the world.
The Workstream Vice-Chairman role is currently vacant.
