A New Era for Pilot Training & Assessment

25 September 2018 - 26 September 2018

No.4 Hamilton Place, London

Conference

09:00 - 17:00

The 2018 Conference International Flight Crew Training Conference will consider the opportunities provided by technology, a better understanding of human interactions and a radically new approach to training. Papers by leading experts, panel sessions and workshops will examine the change in flight crew training and assessment from being task and hours-based to being output and competency-based - a new era in pilot training.

Commercial aviation has made significant investments in pilot training initiatives and the Royal Aeronautical Society is privileged to have undertaken work to mitigate the threats in everyday operations and thereby help to improve safety. It is a stakeholder in the International Pilot Training Association (IPTA) which is at the forefront of many important initiatives in the industry, especially in the learning environment. This wide-ranging Conference will address the sea-change under way in training programmes, equipment and processes from the perspectives of aircraft manufacturers; international, national and regional carriers; makers and users of training systems; training providers; sub-contractors and vendors; airspace managers; researchers; and regulators.

Safe operations require the maintenance of standards through adopting best practices.  Training strategies and training systems - from those on the desktop, through part-task trainers and full-flight simulators to training aircraft - continue to exploit evolving technologies.  Performance-based training systems and emerging regulatory requirements seek to make training delivery more effective and require changes to current philosophies. The Conference will conclude with an open forum giving every delegate an opportunity to table proposals to progress relevant work. Regardless of your role, this Conference will provide a unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders, discuss the issues and influence the work required to resolve them.
