Aerial Revolution

6 February 2018

University of Southampton

Autonomous air vehicles (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, RPAS) are becoming integrated into the mainstream, from the armed forces using them as reconnaissance and weapons platforms, to large internet companies proposing their use as a global delivery system.

New challenges in RPAS include, efficient propulsion systems, Non-line of sight (NLOS) communication, aerial docking (Swarms) and operations where GPS is denied, blocked or spoofed.
Join us for an exciting technical lecture with Dr Stephen D. Prior (CEng & MIMechE) from the University of Southampton, offering an insight into the engineering behind these innovative machines and their capabilities.
Directions to the lecture in lecture theatre B in the Physics Building can be found on our Lecture Locations page.
This lecture is presented in association with the Southampton Area Panel of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
