Aerospace Medicine Grand Round 2017

12 December 2017

No.4 Hamilton Place, London

Medical Risk in Aviation

Conference Highlight

This practice of aviation and space medicine requires an understanding of risk.  For commercial pilots, the One Percent Rule has become the starting point for the assessment of medical risk.  Unfortunately, even with such tools, defining and quantifying this risk in an individual pilot is incredibly difficult.  This year's symposium will use clinical cases and real world experiences to explore the complexities of medical risk in aviation.

The keynote for this conference will be Keith Conradi, Chief Investigator, Health Safety Investigation Branch.

This year’s conference will take the form of a ‘Grand Round’ and act as a forum for aerospace professionals to share and discuss the latest advances in aerospace medicine.  Delegates will get the opportunity to examine clinical cases that present new challenges and dilemmas for the aerospace medicine community.  Attendees will also learn about advances in medical knowledge and treatment that have changed management in the context of flying.

This event will be followed on by the Stewart Named Lecture which is free to attend and will be presented by Jim Vanderploeg, Chief Medical Officer of Virgin Galatic. Registration is now open.
