Careers Awareness

The Ballantyne is the RAeS annual event for 14-18 year-olds which aims to provide an insight into the career pathways in the aerospace and aviation sector with inspiring talks from aerospace and aviation professionals of all ages as well as STEM challenges and competitions.

If you are thinking about career pathways and would like to hear case studies, the latest news and developments and talk to friendly experts from across the aerospace and aviation sector, this is a must event for you to attend!

Why Ballantyne?

The Ballantyne, the Society’s annual event for secondary pupils aged 14-18 years, is named after Dr Archie Ballantyne, Secretary of the RAeS from 1951-1973, whose key achievements included overseeing the lecture theatre extension in 1966, the Society’s 100th year. Ballantyne was particularly keen interested in young people’s development so it is fitting that nearly 50 years on, the event continues in his name and with this core objective at its heart.
