The Brabazon Lecture is held in honour of Lord Brabazon of Tara. Born in London on 8 February 1884, J.T.C. Moore-Brabazon became one of British aviation's true pioneers and, in his political career played an important role in the planning of civil aviation for the years following WW2.

Colin Smith CBE FRAeS, Group President, Rolls-Royce

Colin Smith

Colin joined Rolls-Royce in 1974. He has held a variety of key positions within the Company, including Director – Research and Technology and Director of Engineering and Technology – Civil Aerospace. Colin is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. 

He is also a Member of the Council for Science and Technology and a member of the governments Advisory Group review of UK Research Councils. In June 2012 he was awarded a CBE for services to UK engineering.
