Airworthiness Challenges & Opportunities

The Royal Aeronautical Society’s Airworthiness and Maintenance Specialist Group is hosting a conference on the airworthiness opportunities and challenges associated with the use of emerging technologies. Aviation has continually embraced and exploited technology; from the Wright Brothers use of automotive engines and bicycle technology on the Wright Flyer to the use of military-based technology from rapid wartime advances and the present incorporation of information age and sustainable technological capabilities.

This conference will focus on emerging technologies, some of which are established within other sectors, and how they can be employed and assimilated into improving aircraft airworthiness and maintenance. These will be considered from the perspective of design and manufacture; certification; aircraft maintenance and repair; as well as air traffic management.
