The Spitfire at 80: Fresh Perspectives on an Iconic Fighter

To mark the 80th anniversary of the Spitfire's first flight and in recognition of this iconic aeroplane's design and influence on subsequent aircraft, the Historical Group will be holding a one-day seminar covering aspects of the Spitfire not normally covered in publications and other media.

Topics include: 
- RJ Mitchell and the Spitfire (Keynote presentation
- The Spitfire's aerodynamics 
- The Seafire 
- A Modern Pilot's Comparison of the Spitfire's Handling Qualities with those of the Bf109 and Hurricane 
- Air to Air Photography

There will also be a number of Spitfire-related items from the National Aerospace Library (NAL) on display at this event.
