Modern wind turbines are very complex machines, continuously being evolved in designs to maximise the amount of power that can be extracted from the wind and producing energy that can harmonize with the current grid infrastructure. The lecture will cover basic wind turbine design and aerodynamic principles and some of the challenges faced by the industry over the past 10 years and what future may hold for wind power and renewable energy.
