On the 23 July 1953 an inaugural meeting was held at the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment at Boscombe Down, where it was decided to request the Council of the Royal Aeronautical Society to approve the formation of a Branch. The approval was granted a few months later in October 1953, and in the years since then, the RAeS Boscombe Down Branch has flourished. Today, the Branch continues to serve civilian and service personnel from MOD Boscombe Down and the surrounding area, with a current membership of around 150. Evening Lectures are held at Boscombe Down Lecture Theatre on the second Tuesday of every month from September to April, unless specified otherwise.
