Interim Registration is a useful staging post to becoming a fully registered engineering professional, indicating that you meet the education standards for registration. It demonstrates your commitment to the profession to current and future employers. See Fees for the current Interim Registration entry fees and annual fees. Associateship of the Society is also required.

What qualifications do I need for Interim Registration?

The Society accepts any course accredited as meeting the full academic requirements for Interim Registration, not only aeronautical degrees. Consult the Engineering Council's searchable list of all accredited courses.

For IEng registration, applicants who started their UK studies in or after 1999 need an accredited Bachelors or honours degree in engineering or technology.

For CEng registration, applicants who started their UK studies in or after 1999 need:

  • an accredited Bachelors degree with honours in engineering or technology, plus an appropriate accredited Masters degree, OR
  • an accredited MEng degree

The initial Entry fee will be requested plus with your Associate membership fees, when you application has been accepted. An annual Interim Registration fee is payable in subsequent years for your Interim registration to be listed on the EngC Register.

Please note, when you apply in due course for full registration, you will need to attach a copy of the accredited qualification with the Qualifying Report.  This is to meet our audit requirements.
