New EU Frameworks for Consumer Complaints: Time for an Air Ombudsman? - that was the question posed by Professor Chris Hodges at the Annual Air Law Summer Lecture.

By July 2015 all EU traders must sign up to consumer Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) systems to handle consumer complaints. A pan-EU framework of consumer ADR entities is being created. There are major implications for all business sectors over choice and design of new frameworks, and ADR entities and ombudsmen, Professor Hodges is the leading expert on consumer ADR systems and explained the options for air carriers and the strategies that need to be addressed. 

The event was well attended and posed some interesting questions to those in the room about the future of aviation law. Chris has provided a paper and his presentation for anyone that would like to view it. 

The lecture was followed by the ever successful Annual Summer Reception on the Argyll Roof Terrace that overlooks Hyde Park.
