So far this year, the British weather has proved problematic for outdoor events, and the Patron's Lunch was no exception, with a day of intense downpours. In spite of this, nothing could diminish the spirits of guests who attended the Patron's Lunch, a special event organised for the 600 charities of which Her Majesty The Queen is Patron to celebrate her 90th birthday, with a picnic and parade in London's Pall Mall.
As the Society's patron since since 1952, we were delighted to be able to attend the event which included a wonderful parade led by volunteer groups of all shapes and sizes and the Armed Services, delicious picnic food provided by Marks and Spencer and most importantly, the Royal Family visit to the crowds with a drive past by Her Majesty The Queen and HRH Prince Phillip as Prince William and Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge chatted with the visitors.
After a wet start, the sun even came out to celebrate (and dry out some rather soggy overcoats) and here are a few pictures from the event. Congratulations on your 90th year Your Majesty and thank you for your patronage!
