A Sino-Russian project to develop a widebody airliner to compete with the 787 and A350, took a step forward with the official establishment in Shanghai on 22 May of a joint venture company.

 Called the China-Russia Commercial Aircraft International Company (CRAIC), the entity sees China’s Comac and Russia’s UAC each take 50/50 stakes in the C929 project. The C929 is planned to seat around 280 passengers and have a range of 6,500nm.
