- Children get a guided tour around the Farnborough Wind Tunnel.
Sit up straight…. No talking at the back… it’s time for the Cool Aeronautics Summer term report. Cool Aeronautics is a nationwide day for key stage 2 (7-11yrs old) that gets industry professionals face to face with young people for a series of talks and workshops. The day starts with talks from engineers, pilots and space industry professionals before lunch. After a much anticipated fuel stop of packed lunches the afternoon continues with hands on workshops and activities.
- Will Avison from Surrey Small satellites Ltd talks to children about his job.
The Cool Aeronautics has traveled long and far this year visiting Shannon in Ireland, Glasgow, Cardiff and Bristol. We have also held events at some exciting venues such as the former Royal Aircraft Establishment wind tunnel facility in Farnborough, the University of Strathclyde and Atlantic AirVenture museum.
- Children take part in an orbiting workshop in Glasgow.
We also had a host of amazing speakers from a wealth of companies including: Airbus, GKN Aerospace, Stirling Dynamics, TAG Aviation, TAG Engineering, Surrey Small Satellites, Shannon Aerospace, Ryan Air, NASA and GAMA Aviation. Workshops have been provided by companies and also freelance educators such as Spectrum drama and Science Burp.
