Snap a photo of the A400M and win the ultimate VIP Airbus factory tour and flight simulator experience.
Woah! Catch the A400M doing this and you could win the ultimate avgeek prize! (Airbus)
With Paris Air Show just around the corner, Airbus is set to launch an amazing new annual aviation photography contest for amateurs, young photographers and avgeeks to capture the A400M airlifter in service, at air displays or on operations around the globe.
While the aircraft has been previously a star at airshows thanks to its fighter-like agility, the European-built tactical/strategic transport is now showing up farther afield, with recent sightings in the US, Gibraltar and, of course, around the UK’s famous low-level ‘Mach Loop’. Some 43 A400Ms are now in service, with the UK operating 15, followed by France with 11, Germany with eight, Malaysia and Turkey with four each and Spain the latest operator, with its first example delivered in November.
Submit your photos of the A400M on the ground or the air. (Airbus)
Airbus therefore are asking for your best snaps of the A400M (on the ground or in the air) that capture the aircraft’s muscular lines, its impressive agility, or even its operational versatility - as it carries out its missions around the world, appears at air shows and enters service in increasing numbers with customers.
The competition is divided into three categories.
Military Photographer Award for Military entrants
Young Photographer - (18-21 year olds) voted for by the public on social media.
General Public Photographer Award for all budding photographers
Applicants will be able to upload their photos to a special Airbus A400M photo competition online gallery as well as see the latest entries and vote on your favourites.
Can you beat this shot? (Airbus)
For the first prize in each category - Airbus are offering the winner a once in a lifetime ‘avgeek’ experience - a VIP tour of the A400M factory and final assembly in Seville, plus an opportunity to get hands-on in the full flight simulator itself at the companys’ training facilities.
In addition - one winner’s photograph will also be immortalised as the front cover pic of an upcoming issue of AEROSPACE - the flagship monthly magazine of the 151-year old Royal Aeronautical Society.
Judging will be by an Airbus executive, a RAF representative, a professional aviation photographer and AEROSPACE representative.
Look out for the A400M at the Paris Air Show. (Airbus)
The competition will launch at the Paris Air Show 2017 where the A400M will take part in the static display and will run until 24th November, with winners set to be announced in December.
