British airship company Hybrid Air Vehicles has inflated its lighter-than-air vehicle, the Airlander 10, (formerly the Northrop Grumman LEMV) in the UK for the first time at Cardington.

The Airlander 10, a 92m long airship was originally designed for a US Army ISR requirement and flew in 2012, before it was cancelled. The rebranded Airlander 10, will be the prototype for a larger 50-tonne heavy-lift airship, the Airlander 50. To that end, the UK Government has awarded a £2.5m grant to Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) to develop the technology.
