London City Airport is to transfer its air traffic control service to a remote tower located at the NATS’ area control centre at Swanwick.

To begin operating in 2019, the remote tower will have an operations room which will use 14 high-definition cameras and two pan-tilt-zoom cameras at London City to provide a panoramic live view of the airport. The view can also be augmented  with aircraft identification tags, weather and radar data. The digital tower will be supplied by Saab's Digital Air Traffic Solutions.
