Boeing has sent a 60-day notice to workers at its Washington State factories that ‘involuntary layoffs’ have been scheduled for May.

The move follows a slowdown of orders for both the 777 and 787. Boeing has been cutting staff since early last year, mostly through buyouts and attrition of executive, manager and engineering staff. This is the first notices from the company that some factory workers will be idled.
