Dr Leslie Johnston CEng FRAeS sadly passed away on 25 February 2014. He was a Reader in Aerospace Engineering at Salford University and a member of the RAeS Aerodynamics Specialist Group. Andrew Peace worked with Leslie at the ARA and has kindly provided us with the following biography:

“Having finished his PhD at Queen Mary College, Les joined ARA on 1st October 1981 as a Project Scientist. His main initial focus was on the development of finite difference boundary-layer methods and the associated turbulence modelling. He moved on to work as part of the ARA team who created the first hybrid mesh RANS capability. Les left ARA on 31st March 1988 to work at the Von Karman Institute.”
