Established in 1963, this Named Lecture is run alternately with Cranfield. It honours Sir Frederick Handley Page CBE, HonFRAeS, in recognition of his many contributions to aviation, and in particular to safety and reliability in air transportation. After WW2 he was instrumental in setting up the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield, where he was a Governor up to the time of his death. The 2014 lecture was delivered by Dr Gareth Williams VP Research &Technology Business Development and Partnerships, Airbus. The topic of the lecture will be Clean Sky Programme.
Clean Sky, a Public Private Partnership between the European Commission and the Aeronautical Industry, was established to bring significant step changes regarding the environmental impact of aviation.

Dr Gareth Williams, VP Research and Technology, Business Development & Partnerships, Airbus
Dr Gareth Williams is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, an Honorary Graduand of Cranfield University. He served as a member of the Council of Cranfield University between 2005 and 2012, and on industrial advisory boards at the University of Manchester and Liverpool University. He is a member of the steering board for the Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe (ACARE), and served as a member of the governing board of the Clean Sky Joint Technology Initiative.
