It has emerged that a Lockheed Martin C-130J ‘Super’ Hercules, operated by the Royal Air Force, has been written off after a hard landing in Iraq whilst returning from a special forces mission as part of Operation Shader.
It is understood that the C-130J was returning to base after picking up British and American troops at a desert airstrip in Syria. The UK Ministry of Defence has declined to comment.
