A round-up of Society press coverage highlights from May 2016.

EgyptAir Flight MS804

Royal Aeronautical Society experts were interviewed across all press channels in relation to the disappearance of EgyptAir Flight MS804 over the Mediterranean Sea on 19 May.

BBC News TV and BBC Radio 5 Live - Society Fellow Paul Edwards MBE was interviewed for BBC Radio 5 Live and participated in a live BBC News question and answer session on air travel with BBC Security Correspondent, Frank Gardner.

BBC News TV, Radio 4 and BBC News Online - Society Fellow and member of the Society's Flight Operations Specialist Group Captain John Cox was interviewed on aircraft fires as co-author of the Society Specialist Paper from 2014 'Smoke, Fire and Fumes in Air Transport Aircraft'.

Captain Cox was also quoted, and the Society cited, in a number of UK-based and international press publications following claims that MS804 showed no sign of technical fault.

Queen's Speech 2016

The Queen's Speech announced the Government's intention to introduce a Modern Transport Bill, aimed at supporting the civil UAS market and delivering the first operational UK spaceport by 2018.  The Society featured in the news in relation to this announcement.

BBC Daily Politics - Society Member and Member of the Society's Space Group Dr. Malcolm MacDonald was interviewed by Andrew Neil on BBC Daily Politics on 20 May.

Plymouth Herald - Society Head of Policy and Public Affairs Simon Whalley was quoted in the Plymouth Herald article 'Newquay...the final frontier. Plans for Cornish spaceport comes one small step closer'.
