Rare archive colour footage of the Royal Aeronautical Society's Centenary Garden Party which includes a flying display, held on 9 July 1966 at the Hawker Siddeley Aerodrome, Woodford. A fantastic film for aviation nostalgia fans - film taken during the  Royal Aeronautical Society's Manchester Branch Centenary Garden Party in 1966. The period film shows a fly-in of private aircraft, the crowds and static line as well as an air display including the Avro Vulcan, Westland Whirlwind, Supermarine Spitfire, de Haviland Mosquito, Piper PA-E23-250 Aztec, Avro 504K, RAF Falcons parachute team and the famous Red Arrows team, flying Folland Gnats in only their second-ever display season. This Garden Party and flying display attracted some 40,000 spectators both Members and non-Members.  What is also noteworthy is that the event was held in addition to the  main RAeS Centenary Garden Party on 19 June 1966 at Cranfield. The next was held in 1932 with the event happening yearly unril 1939 with a pause until the post way period, where apart from 1947-1958 it become more infrequent. As can be seen from some of the photos below from the RAeS/NAL archives, the Garden Party also attracted some of the largest and newest aircraft, both civil and military to make their public debut.
