They both feature in this year’s WAAC events programme!
The Society’s Women in Aviation and Aerospace Committee (WAAC) have now finalised their plans for 2015:
Amy Johnson Named Lecture - 9 July 2015 / London
This year’s lecture will be given by Carol Vorderman MBE, ahead of her attempt to fly around the world solo in 2016. She will discuss the achievements of Mildred Bruce, the first women to do the same journey in 1930.
Carol started learning how to fly in 2012 and only unveiled her plans to fly around the world solo a year later, in 2013. She gained her Private Pilot’s Licence in 2014 and is now preparing for her solo flight in 2016.

Conference – Sustainability Solutions: Technology and Diversity – 30 October 2015 / London
Aerospace companies are increasingly focusing on green issues. What are the issues that need attention? How are they being addressed? What role does diversity play in this?
This conference will explore green technology and examine how the lack of resources may affect its development. The event will also discuss the need to encourage women into, and to stay in, the aerospace industry. A networking drinks reception will take place at the end of the event.
Registration will open in the next few weeks and the programme will be announced shortly. To find out more click here.
We hope to see you at an event soon!
